Attacking
In the Ways of Sky, Earth, and Man
Since the figure of Taekwondo is same as that of life, its part and its whole includes each other at once. This interinclusion of the both appears in every motion regardless its size or its speed, thus the right principles of Taekwondo control every change in a momentary movement as well as the control the long process of the common life and the training.
Accordingly, the right motion of an attacking Taekwondo man hits the opponent exploiding the flow of power into an attack in a most proper moement, in relaxed smooth motions. At the same time, his mind should be kept empty as if he led his daily life, just as the center of a big drum is empty even with its thundering sound. It is because he followes the way of Sky keeping everything of his in its proper position. In the course of these, his attack just lies melting in having the opponent in conflict with the world, so, its sharpness is unseen so that no one, even next close to him, cannot recognize it, yet there is only his success of the natural contol over the opponent. This is just following the way of Earth. And the all of these return to himself performed as he intended. It is because he can control Taekwondo following the way of Man.
Generally speaking, the attack of Taekwondo is putting a point of the universe on the weakest spot of the opponent, and it is a spatio-temporal point. Thus no part of the body should stop attached to the attack. This is same as the feature of the nature that never stops its change even a moment. A Taekwondo man conceives a point of the weakest point on the opponent and thrusts it. The opponent gets opposed to the world around this point. A point thrusts with a line and a line cuts something with a surface, then, a line that thrusts a point and a surface that cuts a line consist in a momentary figure of Taekwondo. This should be applied to every attack no matter whether it were thrusting, throwing, pressing or grabbing the opponent, because every motion should follow the TAEKWONDO.
There can be no preventing this sort of Taekwondo's attack, and why? A line is another being with set of points while surface is also another being with a set of lines, yet a line can be broken and a surface can be cut. With the dangers overcome, the line get shorter and the surface gets narrower so that the Taekwondo man can attack a point of his opponent with just a point in its ultimatum. Therefore, the attack cannot be prevented because a point cannot be divided, thus, cannot be restricted either.
A point, which exists unrestrictively with no shape
like that, is similar to <Do>, which exists in everything
showing no shape, and it is also similar to the Sky that resembles
<Do>. This is why the King Se Jong presented with the symbol
'
' the Sky, one
of the three essential materials, in invention of the Hangeul(the
Korean letter system). Why isn't it a wonder that the principles
of Taekwond's attack and the symbols of Hangeul, although they are
all different kinds, show such a consistency like that?
